The Story

Living Craft Center, NTCRI

In 1954, Yen Shui-long helped the Nantou County Government set up the Nantou County Craft Training Class — the beginning of today’s National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute. At the Living Craft Center you can see how generations of hands have brought bamboo, wood, ceramics and lacquer into everyday life.

Good craft is something you use every day; so is tea. Fragrant and easy to brew, a cup of Si Ji Chun is a good tea for daily life.

The Neighbour

Wildlife around Caotun

Taiwan Serow
Taiwan SerowCapricornis swinhoeiEcological surveys around Jiujiufeng (the Ninety-Nine Peaks) in Caotun have recorded the Taiwan serow. Endemic to Taiwan, it walks steadily across steep cliffs.

A gentle noteIf you meet one on the trail, stop, watch quietly and let it move on first.
